How I teach, and how Kinetic thinks
Eight thousand lessons taught me a lot, but there are certain principles you always have to come back to. Golfers typically don’t need more information, they need the right information. One clear objective, minimal swing thoughts, and proof of execution on film. That is what every one of our reports does.
Weight shift first
The most important thing is the weight shift and getting the center of gravity in the correct place. If you are not hitting downward on a golf ball off the ground (excluding driver), you are not doing it correctly.
If we do not have the low point and weight shift in the right place, nothing else really matters. It gets fixed before any position work begins.
The swing is a chain, P1 through P9
After weight shift is corrected, we work through the golf swing like it is a chain. Everything nailed down at P1 before we move to P2, everything at P2 before P3, and so on.
Getting everything correct at P1 does not guarantee a good golf swing. Getting it wrong at P1 can break the entire chain. So the earliest broken link is always the priority, never a later one.
Causes, not symptoms
The one big thing in a swing is usually caused by something earlier. You do not have early extension at P5 so much as you have a takeaway at P2 that swept the club inside and left the body no choice.
Names like over the top, casting, and the flip are shapes a swing makes, not causes. They are the bill for something upstream. We diagnose the upstream move and fix that.
Two thoughts max
The brain can only handle a maximum of two things to work on. One thing in the backswing, one thing in the downswing.
Everything else the analysis finds waits its turn. A report that hands you nine fixes has handed you none.
Corridors, not perfection
The bands in every report are corridors of success, not bullseyes. Variation inside the corridor is style, and style gets left alone. Only leaving the corridor is a fault.
Great swings do not match. They all stay inside the same corridors.
The film settles it
Measured, not guessed. Every number in a report is read off your own footage at nine checkable positions, and the report tells you plainly when a camera angle cannot honestly measure something rather than guessing at it.
Film the swing, check the positions, and there is nothing left to argue about.
